A 7-year-old boy who was shot while playing on his porch Saturday is fighting for his life, and police have one of three suspects in custody.

Police say Zamar Jones was shot once in the head on the 200 block of Simpson Street around 7:40 p.m. Saturday, NBC 10 is reporting.

Police say the driver of a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck extended his arm out of the driver’s side window and opened fire on a group of people, Action News 6 ABC is reporting. As the driver fled, two men in the group opened fire on the pickup truck, reports indicate.

The driver then crashed into a GMC Yukon, got out of the truck and into the Yukon, and drove off, reports indicate. Police found the Yukon abandoned on 64th Street.

While police investigated the scene of the shooting, reports indicate the driver returned to retrieve his truck, and that’s when police chased and arrested him. Police are still looking for the other two suspected shooters, according to reports.

At least 16 bullet casings were found at the scene, according to reports.

Zamar was struck in the shooting and is in extremely critical condition at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, according to reports.

"He is still living, he is fighting for his life, he has not passed on," said Zamar's aunt, Makeeba McNeely, told Action News 6 ABC.

Police Commissioner Danielle Outlaw released a statement condemning the violence, saying “Criminal acts such as this have no place in our communities, and we are committed to securing justice and promoting healing for all who are affected,” according to reports.

The suspects have not yet been named.
