Police: Man steals vehicle with 13-month-old girl inside, crashes off of I-65

Police are investigating after a man believed to be under the influence of drugs stole a vehicle with an infant inside.
Officials said a 13-month-old girl was sitting in the back of a running vehicle in the Shepherdsville Kroger lot early Monday.

The suspect has been identified as Joshua L. Reynolds, 22, of Radcliff.
Officers said Reynolds was spotted near Hillview, driving erratically. A Hillview officer, and later officers from several other agencies, began a chase onto I-65, near the county line.
Just two minutes later, Reynolds went off the side of the road, drove through several bushes and wrecked near the Outer Loop ramp off of northbound I-65.
Chief Rick McCubbin described the time from the call to the arrest as "12 minutes of sheer terror."

Police said neither the child nor Reynolds were hurt, but both were taken to University Hospital as a precaution.
Reynolds was then transported to Bullitt County Detention Center.
He's been charged with auto theft, wanton endangerment, kidnapping, DUI (drugs), reckless driving, and fleeing and evading police. As for the drug charge, Reynolds admitted to using meth.
McCubbin said Reynolds is no stranger to law enforcement. He said he's been charged with several felonies since he was 15 years old.
So far, the child's mother has not been charged. McCubbin said she has "already received the worst punishment of her life."
